Seaville Realty celebrates 25 years in Sayville

One of the biggest financial and most stressful decisions anyone can make is to buy or sell a house. Seaville Realty in Sayville has been helping many local residents do this with caring and confidence for the past 25 years.

Seaville Realty was founded in 1985 by Marilyn Triolo. Marilyn was working for a corporate real estate company and felt something was missing. She saw her client's needs being neglected and she wanted to put them first. Marilyn translated the hometown feel that makes this part of Long Island's south shore so special into her business.

Starting with just three other agents and a secretary, Marilyn opened Seaville Realty in Stop & Shop shopping center, where they still are today. Seaville gets it's name from the town where they are located in - Sayville. When the town was founded it was called Seaville, but a typo accidentally changed it to Sayville.

Seaville Realty is a family run business. Four year after opening Marilyn's son Todd became an agent. In 2007, Todd took the reins from his mom becoming the broker owner of Seaville Realty along with his wife Cathy Triolo and his sister Lynn Triolo Vita, both licensed real estate sales agents. Marilyn has stepped back as owner, but as a real estate agent she is still helping local residents with buying and selling their homes.

From those three agents the business has grown to 28 real estate sales people. One of their agents - Deborah Giglio was just named top agent at Seaville Realty for 2009. That makes a tremendous accomplishment of 11 years straight for Deborah.

For the future, Todd wants Seaville Realty to stay as an independent real estate business. "Being independent allows our agents to give our clients the best service - buying or selling".

Seaville Realty is celebrating their 25th anniversary during the month of April. On April 9th they will be having an open house at their office. Stop by then or anytime to have some goodies, say hi or talk to any of Seaville's caring agents about a house.

Donate food and lose weight with Curves in Sayville

Spring is peeking it's head around the corner, so it is time to get your winter body in shape and feeling good for the warmer weather. The month of March is the best time to join Curves in Sayville. If you donate a bag of groceries, this is the only time they do not charge an enrollment fee. That's a great deal! Curves is the 30 minute circuit training gym, that mixes aerobic exercise and weights.

The 12th Annual Curves Food Drive has started and the Sayville Curves is collecting for Sayville Food Pantry and Blue Point Outreach Program. Last year they collected 965 pounds of food and they hope to surpass this. The food pantries are in need of non-perishable food like - spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, healthy kid snacks, cereal, canned vegetables, laundry detergent and grocery gift cards.

Curves in Sayville is a very kid friendly place, so there are no excuses for not working out. In the back of the gym, there is a play area for your children and you do not have to pay extra for it, like at other gyms. Often the cost of childcare at other gyms ends up being the same as your membership. They have a TV with a DVD player, toys, table, chairs and markers to keep your little ones busy. While working out, you see your kids the whole time and it is very safe.

Besides the exercise, Curves also helps you with eating. They have The Curves Fitness & Weight Management Plan. The book is $10 and the classes are free when you are a member. The plan is very easy to follow with three phases. You just open the book to what phase you are on. Look for what meal you need and there are tons of options, even for busy ladies with kids always on the go.

Go High In Sayville And Fly A Kite

Have you always planned on taking your children out on a windy day to fly a kite, but never did? Here's your chance. On Saturday, September 19th from 10am-4pm, it's the 2nd Annual Kite Festival at the Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville. Kids age 5 and under are free, for everyone else admission is $2. That's a deal!

We went last year and it is truly a very nice event. The kids talked about it all year long and are very excited to go again. You must, must, must buy the kite making kit when you first get there. The kite kits are $5 each. As cheap and cheesy as these kites look - buy one for each kid. They are really plastic garbage bags made into a kite, but they fly like no other. These kites also are long lasting because we still have ours. The kids get to decorate their kite with magic markers and the big decision is what color to make their kite tail. If you already have a kite, you can bring it too.

Then take your kite out onto the humongous, tree free and windy lawn at The Long Island Maritime Museum right on The Great South Bay and fly! Your children will have a blast flying their own kite that they just made. Plan on staying for awhile because the kids will not get bored. Last year there was a DJ playing kite flying music, there was a snack stand with picnic tables and you can also wander through the museum exhibitions. Professional kite flyers were on hand too and danced their huge colorful kites in the wind. All these things will be at this year's festival too.

Some suggestions - bring a blanket or beach chair to be comfortable watching the kites, pack a snack and drinks (if you do not want to spend extra money at the snack stand) and take your camera. Let's go fly a kite!

Watch Barney In K-Mart

Went to K-Mart in Sayville yesterday with the kids and they have new shopping carts. I was not going to get a shopping cart because I just had to buy one thing. Then the kids saw them. There are three shopping carts. They look like a car with a basket in the back and on top - plenty of room for your goodies. Just like all the kids shopping carts in other stores. But, the big but is this one has a small TV in the dashboard of the car.

Before you take the shopping cart off the holder you program it to what show you want to watch. It's fast and simple to do. In no time you are off shopping and the kids sit in the car and watch TV! It fits two kids comfortably. I cannot believe it! Where was this three years ago when my kids were smaller?

The pushee of the cart also has a small TV screen that shows one commercial about every five minutes. You can also change the show the kids are watching and there are recipes and beauty tips. The choice of shows are Barney, Thomas The Train and Bob The Builder.

I know I am melting my kids brains and I am being subjected to advertisements and if the kids are occupied I will stay in the store longer and buy unnecessary things. But I will do anything to keep them quiet to get some shopping done in peace. =)

Say Me Nails

There is a new nail salon that opened right next to my gym - Curves in Sayville. It's called Say Me Nails. I don't pamper myself often, but it opens right when I am leaving the gym and my toes were gross after a week at the beach. I walked in right when they opened at 9:30. The kids were with me and the ladies in the salon put on a kid show on the tv.

They are running a grand opening special till July 15th - 20% off all services or free eye brow waxing. I got 20% off a pedicure and it was $12. Say Me Nails - 211 Montauk Highway, Sayville 631-589-3833. =)

A New Munchkin In Sayville

The Bayport Bubble now has a Dunkin Donuts close by in Sayville. A brand new store just opened on the corner of Main Street and Greene Avenue. Very exciting stuff - if you have little kids. I took the kids yesterday and got chocolate Munchkins and pink donuts. They loved it! And the most exciting part for them was that the door handle was a pink "D". I got some blueberry coffee - yummy!!! Anything having to do with blueberries - I love. It was way cheaper then a cup of coffee from Starbucks and Starbucks does not have blueberry coffee.

Boris The Barber Is The Best

My son has been getting regular haircuts since he was 5 months old - he could have probably used one the day he was born. We have always gone to those coupon places in Bayport next to 7-11, but going there is like - well playing Russian Roulette. Sometimes he gets a great haircut and sometimes I think I can do a better job. So yesterday we went to Boris The Barber on Main Street in Sayville (Sayville is included in The Bayport Bubble when needed). They gave my son a really good haircut and even had lollipops at the end.

The haircut itself did take a bit longer, but it was a good haircut.
And it was $2 more then the $8 I usually pay at the coupon salons, but again it was a quality haircut. Boris The Barber is on Main Street in Sayville on the north side - two stores away from Relax The Back. We parked in the lot where Party Hardy use to be and walked across Railroad Avenue.
